On the death of Bishop Gastrell, 24th November, Dr. Peploe, the warden, was promoted to the see of Chester, retaining at the same time the wardenship in commendam.(7)

31st. December Friday
William Baguley, of Oakenbottom and Kersley, died 31st December, aged 56. He was the founder of a school for poor children at Breightmet and another at Manchester.(7)
