The Presbyterians were greatly elated at
the prospect of the Restoration. On May 6 Newcome prayed for the King "by
periphrasis," but a meeting of the congregation resolved that Charles II.
should be proclaimed, and May 12 Newcome prayed for him without any
periphrasis.(7)

The Lancashire "Presbyterical Classis" was
dissolved on the restoration of Episcopacy. Its final meeting was held August
14, after an existence of fourteen years.(7)
9th. October Tuesday
Richard Radcliffe died October 9. He
was elected M.P. for Manchester in Cromwell's Parliament of 1656.(7)

The town lost its right of returning
members of Parliament by the Restoration; it was re-enfranchised in 1832.(7)
