Information supplied by Paul Cesnavicius, e-address :- mailto:paul.cesnav@virgin.net Mary Alice Johnson was born on the 12.05.1851 at Moorside, Flixton. Her mother was Margaret Johnson. The father was not named on the birth certificate. Margaret Johnson later married James Barrow on the 15.10.1856, at Eccles Parish Church and the place of residence was given as Davyhulme. Whether or not Mary Alice was James Barrow's natural daughter is unclear, but she is listed as Mary Alice Barrow on the 1861 census.
Mary Alice's death certificate states :- When and where died:- 19th
May 1862 at Patricroft in Barton upon Irwell. After the unfortunate circumstance leading to the death of Mary Alice, Margaret, her mother had a mental breakdown and was eventually committed to Winwick Asylum. It is belived she was there for the rest of her life and could be buried there but it is not known for certain. Margaret Johnson had two sons to James Barrow, Wright Barrow, the eldest who was born on the 10.05.1857 at Davyhulme and James Barrow born 23.06.1859 at Calderbank, Davyhulme and died 25.04.1928 aged 67 years. He is buried in Peel Green Cemetery. Wright Barrow died in a drowning accident at Preston Brook, Runcorn on the 24.11.1909. The burial places for James husband of Margaret and Wright Barrow is still being sought. |
